OUR STORY

From Abundance: I know the tangible impact of working a dream. I was houseless for 18 months.  I had no running water, I had no resources, I had no stability. Despite that, I still had dreams. Dreamwork is not only an eternal beginning, but also the effort done in order to achieve  your desired purpose or result. Because with very few resources, I listened to my dreams. I put them to work.  Then 4 years later, I closed on my first home.

From Zakiya: As a disabled person, the world gave me  the narrative that “I'm often meant to feel that I’m not worthy of care”. After a while, I believed I was disposable. I became a self-fulfilling prophecy.  But deep down in my roots, I knew something about those narratives were not true. I had dreams that were bigger than those narratives. And when I listened to dreams and put them to work, the narratives were replaced. My dreams said money is here; love is here; community is here. We have everything we need.  I found workplaces that valued disabled folks, community spaces of acceptance, and places that valued me and my lineage.

From Abundance: Together, we know listening to our dreams is everything.  We realized that dreams do not flourish without work. DREAM School’s curriculum was forged based on my family’s oral histories and the strategies I used when I went from houseless to home ownership in 4 years.  I realized others could benefit from this curriculum. One of our students, Yaya, had a dream that guided them on what to do in the physical realm. This led to a series of events to be featured in them magazine as a fifth generation herbalist. Yaya received sponsorship to complete a Master of Science in Clinical Herbalism and stepped in their generational calling.

From Zakiya:  My dreams lead me to Abundance. The DREAM School curriculum held the tools I knew I needed.   A scholarship gave me access to the class. I received these lessons at a pivotal point in my life. I received the tools to materialize the stories in my dreams that told me I had everything I needed. This class helped me gather and build the language of my ancestors. Listening to our dreams turns history into power. We recognize that people don’t always have the tools to transform their lives. DREAM School provides the tools to reclaim your history and destiny so that you can transform your life and the lives of others.

From Abundance: DREAM School needs your support. These transformations need to continue. We have students who have filled out their scholarship forms and are ready. We have desperate students. We need to share these tools with others because this work is regenerative. Being a part of this regenerative cycle requires your finances.

We want you to come alongside us to provide scholarships to fund the Fellowship so that others can benefit from the tools.

If you’re reading this, someone or some systemic institution has made way for you. Now you get to help others.
